Rukmini Dey

Research Summary:

I am still trying to find solutions to the dimensionally reduced Seiberg-Witten equations for genus $g > 1$ and geometric quantization of the moduli spaces. I am also studying minimal surfaces, constant mean curvature surfaces, Willmore surfaces and their appearance in liquid crystallography, amongst other things.

Publications:

1. ``The Weierstrass-Enneper Representation using hodographic coordinates on a minimal surface'', to appear in Proceedings of Indian Academy of Sciences.

2. ``Symplectic and Hyperkähler structures in a dimensional reduction of the Seiberg-Witten equations with a Higgs field'' appeared in Reports on Mathematical Physics, 50.3, 277-290, 2002.

Conferences/workshops attended:

CIMPA School on ``Discrete Integrable Systems'', in Pondicherry, February 2nd to 14th, 2003.

Visits to other Institutes, invited seminars:

I have visited I.I.T. Bombay, T.I.F.R. Bangalore, I.I.T. Kanpur and given talks on ``Prescribed Gaussian Curvature on surfaces'' and R.R.I. Bangalore to work on a paper on liquid crystals.

Other Activities:

I have given two seminars on ``Prescribed Gaussian Curvature on Surfaces'' and taken a course on Differential Geometry in HRI.
