The meeting will be held in the picturesque campus of Harish-Chandra
Research Institute, situated in the outskirts of Allahabad, a city in
Northern India. The campus is on the banks of the confluence of
two major rivers in India, Ganga and Yamuna. The local weather at the
time of the meeting is expected to be cool and pleasant, with the
minimum temperature ranging between 10 and 12 degrees Celsius.
No rainfall is usually expected at the time of the meeting.
The time of the meeting coincides with a festival along the
river called the Magh Mela, which, once in 12 years is a big
event called the Kumbh Mela. Although there will be nothing like
the crowds during a Kumbh Mela, one can still get to see many pilgrims
including many sadhus who stay for about 6 weeks starting from
the beginning of January to the middle of February.
The institute is expected to look its best during this time
with all the winter flowers blooming.
There are nice pathways to walk around on campus and
see plenty of birds including peacocks.
There are regular bus trips which take you to the city
which is about 15 kms away.
We have computers and internet access in the office as
well as in the guest house. There is also
wireless access in places. So you are welcome to bring your laptops.
There is a place just outside the campus from where telephone
calls can be made to places in India and to places abroad.
