Travel directions to arrive at HRI:

The meeting will be held in the picturesque campus of the Harish-Chandra Research Institute situated in the outskirts of Allahabad, a city in India. The campus is on the banks of the confluence of two major rivers in India, the Ganga and the Yamuna. There are nice pathways to walk around campus and see plenty of birds, including peacocks.

By air:

International Airport:

The nearest international airport to Allahabad is Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi which is well-connected to most of the major cities of the world.

The nearest airport to HRI is Bamrauli Airport, Allahabad. Air India has flights between Delhi and Allahabad everyday of the week.


One can also fly to Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport Babatpur, Varanasi and drive to HRI, Allahabad which takes about 3 hours. There are many daily flights from Delhi and Mumbai operated by Air India, Jet Airways, Indigo, Spicejet, and GoAir. There are also seasonal flights from Bangkok and Colombo.

By train:

Allahabad is well connected by trains to all major cities in India. There are many trains every day between Allahabad and Delhi, Kolkata (Calcutta), and Mumbai (Bombay) operated by Indian Railways. Please note that you need to arrive at Allahabad Junction.

Note:    The Indian festival of Holi (festival of colors) happens to be on March 17, 2014. It is advisable to avoid travel on that day, at least till the afternoon hours. We will arrange a car to pick you up from Allahabad, Varanasi airports and also from Allahabad Railway station. If you are an invited speaker and have an accompanying person traveling with you, please inform us. (This is for the invited speakers only. Participants will be provided with shared accommodation, and it may not be possible for us to accommodate any accompaying person.)
