International Airport

  The nearest well-connected international airport to Allahabad is New Delhi. The closer, Varanasi airport has a few international flights.

Arriving to Allahabad

By air


  The nearest airport to HRI is Bamrauli Airport, Allahabad. There are a few flights to and from Allahabad. They are operated by Air India and Spicejet. More information can be obtained for example from merchant's website makemytrip.  The Allahabad airport is just 25 km away from HRI. Please note that the Allahabad airport is not a fully functional civilian airport and hence we cannot send the cab to the exit doors close to the arrival gate. You are requested to leave the airport premises, walk down about 100-150m to the main street where a cab will wait for you with a "HRI" placard.


  The other, and more convenient, option will be to fly to Varanasi and drive to Allahabad. The drive takes about three hours. It is fairly smooth, and costs about Rs. 2000. Air India, Spice Jet and Jet Airways, all have daily flights to and from Varanasi.


By train

  Allahabad is well connected by trains to all the major cities in India. Please note that you need to arrive at Allahabad Junction (ALD).

 

  A popular train between Delhi and Allahabad is the Prayag Raj Express. It leaves New Delhi station (usually from platform 12 on the Ajmeri gate side) everynight at 21:25 and arrives at Allahabad the next morning at 06:45. The train leaves Allahabad everynight at 21:30 and reaches New Delhi in the morning at 06:55. 


Arriving to HRI

  We will be arranging for a car to pick you up from the Allahabad Junction Railway Station (ALD). Please take the exit on the Platform 1 (City Side) and look for a person with the "HRI" placard.

  In Allahabad, the Harish-Chandra Research Institute is known as "HRI". The institute campus is 13 kms away from the railway station, named as Allahabad Junction.
