Centre for String Interactions


Harish-Chandra Research Institute is located in the small town of Jhusi by the river Ganga. It is located amidst rural surroundings, which adds to the idyllic charm of the neighbourhood, and to the serene life on campus. Far from the hustle and bustle of the city of Allahabad, the surroundings provide perfect atmosphere for contemplation for the residents of the institute.

Members at Harish-Chandra Research Institute work in mathematics and theoretical physics. The centre for string interactions is a group in theoretical physics department working on string theory and related topics like, supersymmetric gauge theories, holography, etc. At present the centre for string interactions has 6 permanent members, 5 post-doctoral fellows and 6 graduate students. The group has an active visitor programme with visitors ranging from graduate students doing their masters thesis to senior faculty members.

The centre has organised several activities like conferences, workshops and schools based on the topics of current interest in string theory. Besides these activities, the centre regularly organises the string theory seminar.
