Journal Club

The HEP Journal Club meets every week for a focused presentation and discussion of a selected paper from the recent or classical literature. Presentations are given by group members on rotation, and all are welcome — including visiting researchers and students from other groups.

Each session begins with a 30-minute presentation followed by open discussion. Papers are announced one week in advance to allow participants to read ahead.

ArXiv Club

The ArXiv Club meets weekly to collectively scan and discuss the latest preprints posted on hep-ph, hep-th, and hep-ex. Rather than a single paper presentation, each session involves multiple members briefly highlighting papers they found interesting, followed by group discussion.

This is a lightly structured, informal session — coffee is provided. The goal is breadth: to keep the whole group aware of what is appearing across the field, not just in their own niche.

How It Works
H.01

Paper Nominations

Members submit arXiv IDs to the shared list by Monday evening. Aim for 1–3 papers each. No preparation beyond reading the abstract and skimming is expected.

H.02

Session Structure

Each nominator gives a 3–5 minute pitch for their paper. If interest is high, discussion can extend. Sessions are capped at 60 minutes total.

H.03

Archive

A running list of all discussed papers is maintained on the group's internal wiki for reference. Members are encouraged to add brief notes after sessions.
